Workdays Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

What are you going to do?A job with more freedom than that of a mail deliverer? There isn't one. As a mail deliverer, you work independently in your own neighborhood and you decide your own working hours every single day. Picking up the (grand)children from school in between, working out, or taking an exam? You can! This is what your workday as a mail deliverer looks like:

You start by picking up the mail at the depot in your neighborhood. The mail is ready and you only have to put it in your bicycle bags: everything is already neatly sorted by street and house number. What time do you pick up the mail? You decide that yourself, as long as it is before 15:00. Then you cycle and walk your round. Nice and easy in your own neighborhood. And at the times that suit you best. As long as the mail is safe, you can easily work out or have dinner in between. As long as all mail is in the letterboxes by 18:00 at the latest.

Extra fun as a mail deliverer: You work independently, but never feel alone. You quickly become a familiar face in the neighborhood and build nice contacts with residents and colleagues. And because you are active, you work on a better physical condition without even noticing!

What do you bring?Everyone from the age of 16 can become a mail deliverer. You are aware that you are the calling card of PostNL. You therefore work accurately and have a customer-oriented attitude. In addition:

  • You are available for at least 7 months;
  • You are fit enough to walk and cycle for a few hours through your neighborhood and lift mailbags of up to 23 kilos;
  • You have a sturdy bicycle with an iron luggage carrier;
  • You speak good Dutch or English. This is to communicate with your colleagues and supervisor;
  • You have a smartphone to use during your work;
  • You are flexible to walk in different neighborhoods. You do not always have a fixed route;
  • If you come to work for us, you will need a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). Of course, you will be reimbursed for this.

What do we deliver to you?We offer you a varied job that you can fully coordinate with your private life. You start with a contract for 7 months, with the possibility of extension. Would you like to work more or fewer hours than stated in this vacancy? Then we also warmly invite you to apply, and we will be happy to discuss the possibilities with you. Whatever you choose, you can count on:

  • On top of your salary, you get 8% holiday allowance, which we pay out monthly;
  • You get four weeks of vacation per year;
  • You build up a pension (from 18 years);
  • You can work more hours in consultation and you will get your overtime paid out or you can take it as free time;
  • You will receive an allowance of up to €26.20 per month for using your smartphone, incurred expenses, and maintenance of your bicycle (depending on the number of hours you work);
  • Depending on the business results of PostNL, you can receive an annual profit-sharing benefit that can amount to up to 3% of your annual salary.

And further:

  • You can follow online training courses via our digital learning environment;
  • You get discounts on (health) insurance, holidays, outings, and fun products;
  • You will work in a team with committed and pleasant colleagues.

Good to know before applying

Groningen is a premier student city where cycling is the primary mode of transport, making this mail delivery role a natural fit. Since you can choose your own delivery hours before 18:00, you can easily schedule your routes around lectures at the University of Groningen or Hanze UAS. Be sure to check the original Dutch posting to confirm the specific neighborhood routes available and the physical requirements, as navigating Groningen's busy streets with mailbags up to 23 kg requires a sturdy bicycle and good physical fitness.
